Tie Fest 2018 has grown to a two day event to be held Feb. 24 & 25 at the Loews Annapolis Hotel. Be sure to stop by my booth and say hi. I’ll be set up with my good friend and fellow Tangier guide Capt. Chris Karwacki of Chesapeake on the Fly. Chris and I will also be giving a seminar together each day on Fishing Tangier Sound. Call, text or email me for additional info. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

It’s time to get your Susquehanna Flats trip in the books. I’m probably only fishing the flats two weeks this April so there are a limited number of dates available. Contact me soon so you won’t miss out. I hope to be back fishing Crisfield the last week of April before heading south to Fisherman’s Island for trophy stripers and red drum Kjosenhans@aol.com 443-783-3271

It’s time to break out your insulated coveralls, gloves and wool hat for a mid-winter fishing trip to the wild and scenic Pocomoke River. The tidal Pocomoke flows through a cypress swamp on Maryland’s Eastern Shore near the historic town of Snow Hill. You can expect to catch good numbers of yellow perch, crappie, pickerel and the occasional bass. Last year saw some of the best yellow perch fishing I have experienced in my lifetime, and I’ve been around a long time. Pickerel over twenty-four inches are routinely boated.

Here are some shots of last year’s action.

Sorry I haven’t posted much but I’ve been on the water a lot, and by the time I get home the computer screen is just a blur. I often take the easy way out and simply post photos on my Facebook @JosenhansFlyFishing and Instagram @KevinJosenhans accounts. Please check out all my social media sites for current fishing reports. A picture really is worth a thousand words.
We’ve enjoyed a fantastic fall, fishing for stripers and speckled trout out of Crisfield. Shallow water action was great around Smith and Tangier Islands casting DOA CAL Shad Tails in Pearl or chartreuse colors. I can’t begin to tell you how much I love the DOA 4-inch Shad tail, especially for larger stripers. The action is extremely lifelike at slow or higher retrieve speeds. Attach to a 3/8 or 1/2 ounce DOA Premium Jig Head and you have my go-to rockfish bait. Check it out at http://www.doalures.com
Enjoy some of my favorite shots of Autumn on Tangier Sound, with a few bonus pics out of Madison on the Little Choptank.

Fishing has generally been very good with wind as the determining factor. Light winds mean clean water and good fishing. Specks, stripers and bluefish have been the mainstay. Crisfield shallows have been hot over eel grass beds casting DOA CAL jigs with 3″ and 4″ shad tails. We’ve also made the occasional trip to Madison on the Little Choptank for fast action with breaking rock and blues.
I have a walk on spot available this coming Saturday out of Madison on the Little Choptank, just south of Cambridge. It’s a 3/4 day (6 hour) trip from 7:30-1:30. There are breaking rock and blues in the area so we will mostly be running and gunning looking for birds and fish. Your cost will be $225. Call, text or email at 443-783-3271, or kjosenhans@aol.com
Lowe Morrison and his daughter Lindsey absolutely crushed big specks yesterday while fishing the Chesapeake Bay for the very first time. Some pretty rockfish were caught as well. Hope this hot summer action continues. D.O.A. CAL Shad Tails in pearl and chartreuse were the ticket. DOA Lures #doalures

Walk On Trip
I had a late cancellation to share a full day walk on trip out of Cambridge on the Choptank River. The trip is this coming Thursday, June 29. We will fish 7:00-3:00, give or take. Time is negotiable. You will be sharing the boat with one other angler. We have been catching lots of schoolie rockfish, with the occasional fish to 27 inches. This is fun shallow water fishing on a beautiful river. Fly or spin fisherman welcome. Call, text, or email me for details. 443-783-3271 kjosenhans@aol.com
