How about a trip to the Florida Keys this winter? A good friend and up and coming Chesapeake Bay guide Capt. Tyler Nonn of Tidewater Charters has been running trips out of Big Pine Key for the past couple of years. I have fished with Tyler and have seen him in action at the Susquehanna Flats and Fisherman’s Island for big stripers and, believe me, he is the real deal. You will not be disappointed if you charter a trip with him. Check out his website, sign up for his e-newsletter, or maybe just give him a call to talk fishing. And be sure to send me some photos of your trip!!
Here is a brief excerpt from Tyler:
“Escape the cold with Tidewater Charters this winter in the Florida Keys! Sailfish, tuna, tarpon, cobia, kingfish, and more! Tidewater heads south with boat in tow, our winter operations are based out of the Big Pine Key area, 25 miles from Key West, FL. Offshore fishing heats up in Dec and typically sailfish arrive in early to mid January and stay through March in great numbers. Along with our day time inshore and offshore fishing program we love to catch aggressive juvenile tarpon are night in the Big Pine area. There are lots of pinch points and funnels where the juvenile tarpon, up to 90lbs, congregate to feed at night. It’s a ton of fun and novice fly anglers can have the opportunity to hook multiple tarpon in a night! Come enjoy the beautiful Florida Keys this winter!”
