Sight Casting Trophy Red Drum and Stripers

3 04 2017

I’ve got a couple last minute openings for trophy red drum and stripers fishing the flats of the eastern shore of Virginia below Cape Charles near the CBBT. We hope to do some sight fishing if conditions are right. This is a world class fishery with a small window, so get in on it while you can. The dates are May 2, 3 and 6. This is prime time! Contact me for details.

MSSA Dorchester Meeting

16 02 2017

Come on out tonight to the Dorchester MSSA meeting at the Cambridge Elks Lodge to hear me speak on winter Pocomoke River fishing and Tangier Sound specks and reds. I know this is late notice but I’ve been battling a bout of laryngitis due to a cold, so I wasn’t 100% sure I could pull this off. But all is well – or well enough – so if you’d like to learn a little about tackle and technique for the Pocomoke River and Tangier Sound come on out. The meeting begins at 7:00 with my presentation around 7:30. See you there.

Gold on the Pocomoke

13 02 2017

Some terrific action on the Pocomoke River of late. Jumbo yellow perch, crappie and monster pickerel are slamming small jig-and-minnow combinations. We struck gold yesterday with some of the biggest, fattest yellows of the season. Monster pickerel were hanging with the perch. Still a couple of open dates to get that February $50 discount. Good fishing should continue through March. White perch on the Nanticoke is just around the corner where we had fish to 14″ last spring and catches in triple digits was the norm. #BuiltForTheWild @YETIcoolers #seewhatsoutthere @CostaSunglasses #YamahaOutboards

Yellow Perch on the Pocomoke River

Yellow Neds

4 02 2017

The winter yellow perch run has begun in force on the upper Pocomoke. We enjoyed nonstop action with big roe perch on Tuesday. A few crappie came boat side as well but the perch definitely stole the show. Small 1/16 ounce jig heads with a two-inch curly tail tipped with a minnow was the hot bait. They would bite without the minnow but the bigger fish definitely wanted meat. A slow retrieve along the bottom worked best.

Pocomoke River Winter Special

Why wait until warm weather when the fishing’s hot now. Warm up to February on the Pocomoke and save $50.00 off the regular rate on your next 4 or 6 hour guided trip. Biting now are crappie, pickerel, yellow perch and maybe a stray bass. Fishing license, ultralight G. Loomis spinning rods, Sage fly rods, tackle, ice and bottled water included. I’ll even bring a thermos of Royal Farms coffee. Offer good through the end of February. Don’t miss a fun time! Contact Kevin at 443-783-3271 or to reserve your trip.
