Rockfish in the Spotlight
Since the majority of speckled trout have taken a leave of absence, we have switched gears and are now pursuing rockfish with full abandon. While many of the stripers are ‘short’ of size, the action has been incredible!! Catches of 50 to 75 per angler are commonplace, and while many just scratch the 17-inch line-marker there are enough line sides in the 20 to 25-inch range to keep my clients on their toes. Given an overcast day and poppers can keep anglers hollering with delight for hours. I fully expect the size of the fish to improve as migrating stripers from the north and the south converge on Tangier Sound like Union and Confederate forces at Gettysburg.
Now Booking for 2014
Wow! Am I really talking of 2014 in October?! In fact, my trophy red drum trips to Fisherman’s Island, VA are just about full. I have also begun to receive requests for the Susquehanna Flats and Tangier Sound bookings have begun to pour in. I hope the speckled trout have me on their calendar! Folks started to request dates before I could make an official announcement, so, please consider today that day. Contact me at your earliest convenience to schedule a trip for next season. I have a few clients with outstanding deposits that I will attempt to give preference to, but basically dates will be booked on a first-come, first served basis. Please, before you call or email, check out my new rate structure below. Thanks so much for your continued patronage!
2014 Rate Schedule
I have adjusted my fee structure for calendar year 2014 to better allow me to provide the professional services that I feel my clients are due. While the majority of the fees have remained the same there has been a small increase in my full day rates. In addition, due to popular demand I have expanded my area coverage to include Onancock and Folly Creek, VA. Onancock is a quaint little town on the eastern shore of Virginia where we have access to the Chesapeake Bay below Watts and Tangier Islands. Folly Creek will allow seasonal access to the summer flounder grounds of Metompkin Bay. Feel free to call or email for additional information on these trips. You may view the new rate schedule on my Web site at www.josenhansflyfishing.com
