Due to the overwhelming popularity of my last walk on request I have decided to open up two more dates. I have three spots available for August 25 & 26. One spot one day and two the other. Doesn’t matter which day right now, as I will fill them as they come in. This will be a full day (8 hour) trip out of either Crisfield or Cambridge – location is negotiable. Might depend on the fishing. Cost will be $250. License, tackle, ice and bottled water will be provided. Contact Kevin at 443-783-3271 or kjosenhans@aol.com

Jon Boat for Sale
28 07 2015A friend is selling his “like new” Tracker Jon boat. This is a great deal and won’t last long. Check it out!
“Jon boat for sale. 2008 Tracker Grizzley 1754 (17 ft) with marsh camo paint. This is a rugged, open, all welded hull with a 40 HP Mercury 4 stoke engine with less than 100 hours. Aside from a few scuffs in the paint from general use, this boat is in LIKE NEW condition. Perfect rig for duck hunting, sika hunting, crabbing, and fishing. This is a very seaworthy jon boat. I’ve fished all over the bay in it. I’m asking $6,000 OBO. I am the original owner of this boat. I am looking to upgrade to another boat for guiding. PM me if you are serious. Thanks.”

Breaking Bluefish Off Crisfield
17 07 2015Snapper blues have moved onto a few of the shoals near Crisfield. They can be seen feeding on the surface early and late in the day. While most are running 12 to 14 inches in length there are fish up to 21 inches mixed in with the pack. This is great fun on light spinning and fly tackle. Hopefully, this will give anglers another option through September. In the shallows, stripers are providing a slow pick, while speckled trout are still playing hard-to-get. Let’s hope a few specks make their way up the bay from North Carolina.

Searching for West
28 06 2015Earlier this week I had the pleasure of guiding Mark Seacat of Seacat Creative, an “authentic marketing” company based in Bozeman, Montana. Seacat Creative promotes products utilizing an outdoor adventure experience through videography, photography, writings, and social media. Mark has a résumé of outdoor adventures a mile long, be it hunting and fly fishing his native Montana, trout fishing New Zealand, sailing the Pacific, or as a sponsored climber of the worlds peaks. An excellent fly caster in his own right, Mark really gave the stripers a workout on day one. While not the trophies of the spring season, their sheer numbers more than made up for the smaller size. Day two threw us a curve, with a cold front bringing strong northerly winds and tough fishing. Still, it was a most enjoyable two days of fly fishing the Chesapeake. The link below takes you to a short movie featuring Mark on his annual quest for elk. While it has been out for about three years, it was only recently that I viewed it for the first time. I wanted to share it with you, not just for the excellent cinematography, but also it’s introspective storyline on hunting and family. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I hope you do as well.

Bluefish Arrive at Summer Haunts
13 06 2015The arrival of two to four pound bluefish is a welcome sign and gives us another species to play with. Now if the speckled trout would get their act together everything will be right with the world. There have been reports of bait fishermen seeing more specks in their creels. Let’s hope the trend continues!

School Stripers Keeping Clients Happy
8 06 2015Fish are by no means jumping in the boat but school stripers to 24 inches are keeping clients happy. Light tackle and fly gear in skinny water has been providing exciting action at times, but there are days when we have to work for what we get. Not many specks as of yet but I’m hopeful that will soon change. Anxiously awaiting the arrival of blues and flounder as well. Water has been super clear and all sorts of life is visible while drifting the eel grass flats. Tangier sound really is a beautiful place to fish!
